Executive Chef, Jose Arturo Suazo
Chef Arturo’s cooking journey began as an adolescent in his family home, creating meals from anything he could find in the kitchen. Born and raised in Mexico City he moved to San Jose, California to pursue a culinary career where he then graduated from the renowned Culinary Institute of California in nearby Napa Valley. From there Chef’s career took him across the country to the East Coast where he began as a Sous Chef at Chispa in Coral Gables, FL and then north to Montauk Yacht Club in New York, where he was promoted to Executive Chef. After moving to Maryland, he oversaw the opening of a chain of restaurants for the Southern Boys Company as their Executive Chef. Eventually his journey brought him to Noble House Hotels & Resorts where he assisted as a task force chef, traveling to resorts across the portfolio for three years, finally calling BALEENkitchen his permanent residency since 2022. Passionate about continuing to develop the flavors and techniques that his team brings to the cuisines of BALEENkitchen, chef spends his time off exploring the diverse and dynamic cuisines of the Miami community. Chef Arturo has curated an exceptional menu of global dishes that resonate with our well-traveled guests.
